​to join the award-winning Parkway West Band Program!
Beginning band at Parkway West Middle School is open to EACH and EVERY incoming 6th-grade students.
No previous experience required!
We offer the following instruments below at West Middle School:

So, How Can My Student Join Band?

​1. Register​ ​for​ ​Band​ ​Class:
  • Check the box for band in January on the class registration sheet.

2. ​ ​Instrument​ ​Fitting: 
  • All students who sign up for band will be fitted for an instrument. 
  • Directors will visit all elementary schools between February and March to complete the instrument fittings. 

3. Instrument​ ​Fitting​ ​Certificate: 
  • Once all students have completed the instrument fitting process they will receive a certificate identifying the director’s instrument recommendation.*   
  • Students will then be placed into an instrument specific class for the fall based on the results from the instrument fitting process. 

4. Watch​ ​for​ ​Updates:  ​

5. Get​ ​an​ ​Instrument: 
  • You may rent or purchase instruments. 

6. Attend:
  • West Middle Open House (Date TBA​)

*Directors recommendation- The instrument fitting is a process driven by the band directors to help students select an instrument that will allow them to have success in band. This does not mean your student has to play that instrument but we strongly recommend it.
